The Star Wars Celebration kicked off today with a display board showcasing the projects Lucasfilm is working on and the new Star Wars series. Andor got attention after the cast of Obi-Wan Kenobi leave the stage. Not only is there a brief interview with the show’s cast and crew, but there’s also a teaser trailer along with a Disney+ release date of August 31.
The teaser trailer shown is musically paced with anvil-like percussion and throat vocals making up the theme of the scene. Focusing on the growing tension between rebellious citizens and the overbearing Empire, Andor will depict the five years of Cassian Andor’s life before the events of the year. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The trailer shows those citizens preparing for conflict with imperial forces while Diego Luna’s Andor voiced his displeasure with the Empire through the footage. Of course, we’ll see Cassian Andor sneak around, but there’s also a new look at Genevieve O’Reilly returning as Mon Mo Hen, who eventually played the part in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. Surrounded by photographs of a lush forest, a completely white background set in a body of water, and a large futuristic city most likely Coruscant.
The opening table for this year’s Celebration was not streamed, but more news has arrived from the board via the official Star Wars Twitter account. Executive producer Tony Gilroy said that 12 episodes of Andor is already filming for a premiere this fall, and twelve more episodes will include a second season that leads directly into the events of Rogue One (SOURCE: Deciders).
Andor will be streamed exclusively on Disney+, and its premiere on August 31 will include the first two episodes of the series.
