Cellar Door Games has revealed that Rogue Legacy 2, the upcoming roguelite sequel to Rogue Legacy gain Early Access in 2020will release version 1.0 this month.
More specifically, Rogue Legacy 2 will arrive on Steam and the Epic Games Store on April 28. If you haven’t played the first Rogue Legacy, you can do so now as it’s a free game on Epic. Games Store from April 7 to April 14. . To celebrate today’s news, Cellar Door Games released a new trailer for IGN Introducing some of the things that await players in roguelite.
“Rogue Legacy 2 is finally coming to version 1.0 and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out,” Cellar Door Games wrote in a press release. “Our goal for Rogue Legacy 2 has always been to make ‘Rogue Legacy 3’ because we don’t want to settle for more. It should stay true to the original, but also stand on its own as something new. After nearly four years of development, bringing it to fans is the final step in this long journey, and we hope they find it as special as we do.”
The sequel features a new art style – namely 3D characters set on hand-drawn 2.5D backgrounds – new weapons, abilities and classes, environments, etc. It also introduces Heirlooms into the series and Cellar Door Games say this fosters a “unique Metroidvania feeling by permanently granting heroes new abilities”.
“Besides, Rogue Legacy 2 significantly improves the characteristics to bring greater value to the adventure gameplay than the reward, as well as making significant strides in accessibility to help players play successfully even when they are struggling.”
