In addition to revealing release date of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online, Rockstar has confirmed that development on the next official GTA has indeed begun.

Given GTAV’s unmatched longevity, we know many of you have asked us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With each new project we embark on, our goal is always to go beyond what we’ve previously delivered – and we’re pleased to confirm that development is active for the next installment in the series. The Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we’re ready, so stay tuned to Rockstar Newswire for official details.
So you have it. While not the biggest surprise in the world, there’s a section of vocal fans who will be relieved to hear that, yes, Rockstar won’t be re-releasing GTA V permanently. The question is how much longer is Grand Theft Auto 6, or whatever Rockstar decides to call it, a grand launch.
