Robot dogs can help agents detect illegal activity along the border
“Robot dogs” – four-legged headless machines with cameras and sensors – could one day prowl along the Southwest border, detect undocumented migrants or sniff out drug traffickers.
Department of Homeland Security Officials tested 100-pound quadrupedal prototypes in Virginia and Texas. Officials hope to equip robots developed by Philadelphia-based Ghost Robotics with cameras and sensors to assist Border Patrol agents in detecting illegal activity.
