Roblox will now hide ads for users under 13 and ban ads for insect body parts

Gaming platform giant Roblox has announced changes to its community standards and a major update regarding ads for kids. An update to the Roblox Community Standards states that Roblox will now hide all promotional content from users under the age of 13.

Roblox is making these changes apparently in response to a Truth in Advertising complaint with the FTC about how Roblox “surreptitiously” sells ads to children. The organization said Roblox was guilty of “digital deception” and did not do enough to “ensure compliance with the truth in advertising laws,” according to gi.biz.

In addition to rolling out changes to hide ads from users under the age of 13, Roblox has updated its list of “prohibited advertising” content categories. Among other things, ads for NFTs and cryptocurrencies are now banned, as well as ads for online dating services. Ads for fortune tellers and funeral services are also banned, along with ads for insects, including individual body parts and their byproducts.

In other news, Roblox Corp. recently revealed that they were $150 million stored at ill-fated Silicon Valley Bank, but the company told investors not to worry. Company take it all back when the US government intervened.
