Robert Saleh upset with Quincy Williams over ‘incredibly terrible’ late hit

New York Jets Head coach Robert Saleh was completely without a punch after Friday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He targeted his own player, full-back Quincy Williams, after an “incredibly terrible” late strike on midfielder Jalen Hurts.

“It was horrible by Quincy,” said Saleh, via New York Post. “He knows it. He knows better. Those are the stages that Quincy has to leave his game if he wants to be the sub we all thought he could be.”

The hit was blatantly late and angered Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, who stormed onto the field and yelled on the New York sidelines.

“I’m going crazy with this situation,” Sirianni said after the game, via The Sporting News. “Obviously I was more mad at the player than with the coach Saleh.”

Although Sirianni seemed to direct much of his anger towards Saleh, he praised the Jets head coach after the game. Apparently, the disappointment came in the heat of the moment.

“Coach Saleh is a great person. I have a lot of respect for him,” Sirianni added. “I just stick with Jalen. I will never apologize for sticking with my players.”

Hurts wasn’t injured in the play but that doesn’t mean the NFL won’t take Williams down. He can expect an envelope in his closet this weekend complete with a hefty fine.
