Robert Garcia Discusses Joshua Training Camp Issues: “We All Know”

Robert Garcia gave an in-depth look at how Anthony Joshua’s camp went ahead of his unsuccessful rematch with Oleksandr Usyk last year.

Joshua breaks up with Garcia after the war, and was affiliated with Dallas-based coach Derrick James ahead of his comeback game against Jermaine Franklin next month.

And Garcia admits Boxing ID that conditions for the camp weren’t ideal, and he even considered leaving at one point.

“I know that my job and Angel Fernandez are not bad, but honestly it could be better. Nobody mentioned everything that happened in the training camp, and I won’t mention it either.”

“But we all know the path of training camp.”

“I find it frustrating because there are so many new people in the camp. The first week I was there, I told his management team to take me home. Because there are people out there who, I believe, won’t help.”

“That was then. Now I think he’s in a great place, in a great training camp and I’m sure he’ll be in good form. He’s going to get a good, sure win so his next game can be against a big name.”

It is believed that the link with James, coupled with the escape from intense media scrutiny in the UK, could provide the best version of Joshua fans have seen in years.

Although he entered the match on April 1 in the 2nd most popular place, the defeat would be catastrophic for ‘AJ’, with many believing that a loss could even lead to his retirement.

Franklin proved to Dillian Whyte last time that he could combine it with the biggest heavyweights on the planet, however, and will fully count on the world to turn the apple cart upside down in less than a month’s time.
