RJ Abarrientos shines anew as Ulsan enters KBL Cup Finals
MANILA, Philippines — Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus advanced to the 2022 Korea Basketball League (KBL) Cup Finals after beating Changwon LG Sakers, 82-78, with RJ Abarrientos putting on another impressive performance at the House Tongyeong competition on Friday.
Abarrientos shot a brilliant 44% from the three-point area, sinking four of his nine attempts to help Ulsan on his way to victory.
He finished with 17 points, three rebounds and two assists after scoring 15 points and six assists in their final game.
Another Philippine KBL import player is Justin Gutang, a former prominent St. Benilde, had only six minutes to play for Changwon and had a single assist.
Gauge Prim led Ulsan with a brace of 20 points and 17 rebounds. Ham Ji-Hoon and Lee Woo Seok also reached 14 and 13, respectively.
Assem Marei finished with 20 markers and seven pounds in a losing attempt for Changwon.
Ulsan Hyundai will face Goyang Carrot Jumpers or Suwon KT Sonicboom in the pre-season championship.
