The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 The electric car, which blends hatchback and crossover markings, only hit dealerships at the start of the year, but Hyundai is close to rolling out a hotter version.
The latest spy photos and videos show a prototype for what could be the Ioniq 5 tuned by the Hyundai N performance division.

Compared to the regular model, the Ioniq 5 N prototype has a lowered suspension, wider front and rear tracks, low profile tires and a new wheel design. Our scouting photographer noted that the brakes were also upgraded from the production model with larger calipers and rotors. The tester also seemed to ride on a stiffer suspension, showing off new shocks and springs.
It’s hard to judge with the thick camouflage kit, but it looks like the Ioniq 5 N has a revised front fascia with a new design for the air vents. The interior is also equipped with front sport seats, according to our photographer.
Ioniq 5 N should ride on the same type of skateboard Dedicated EV Platform E-GMP like the Ioniq 5. The regular model is available with rear- or all-wheel drive thanks to a single rear engine or a combination of front and rear engines, and the latter is the best choice for the Ioniq 5 N, combined with the largest Battery of the Ioniq 5, in this case a 77.4 kWh unit.
Regarding the power level when pressed, Related Kia EV6 provide some clues. The range-topping GT class of the EV6 delivers 576 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque, or enough to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds. The regular Ioniq 5 tops out with 320 hp and 446 lb-ft.
Look for the Ioniq 5 N to hit dealerships later this year or early next year for the 2023 model year.
