Richardson Hitchins is a Wildcard at 140

Via Vince D’Writer: Josh Taylor and Regis Prograis are world champions currently leading a weight division filled with talented boxers, but ultralightweight rival Richardson Hitchins (16-0.7 KOs) could be the starting wildcard first appeared on everyone’s radar.

After representing his parents’ hometown of Haiti at the 2016 Summer Olympics, Hitchins decided to turn professional and six months later, he signed with Mayweather Promotions. Hitchins will continue to have 5 years running under the Mayweather Promotions banner until he feels the need to change.

The change in his boxing career came from Eddie Hearn and Matchroom boxing. With Mayweather Promoted, Hitchins began to feel as if his career was becoming a bit stagnating. He continues to look for opportunities to become more active and receive many opportunities to showcase his skills.

After signing with Matchroom in September 2022, Hitchins was brought on board two months later, when he faced off against Yomar Alamo in the Montana Love-Steve Spark card co-feature. Hitchins was immediately in control of the match by repeatedly making jabs and setting up his combinations.

As the rounds went on, it became clear that Richardson Hitchins was completely ahead of his opponent. He’s a complete ring technician, as he frequently performs grounding combos, and he can control the speed and range of the round during the first eight rounds.

At the end of the eighth round, Yomar Alamo went to his corner and due to unproductive his team decided to end the competition. With the win, Richardson Hitchins took the vacant IBF North American lightweight title.

Hitchins made a successful debut with his new ad agency, and a few months later, he was back in the ring as part of the Amanda Serrano-Erika Cruz sub-card. It was a battle of undefeated ultralighters, both chasing their chances of a quality win and promotion, when Richardson Hitchins took on John Bauza.

In theory, this fight looks like it will be an interesting match between Hitchins, the boxing technician, and Bauza, the pressure boxer. As it turned out, the fight was only one-sided as the Hitchins prevailed for all ten rounds.

For the second time in a row, Richardson Hitchins uses his new DAZN platform to once again illustrate the fact that he is too fast and too good for his opponents. Hitchins is a talented boxer, sharp, very precise, responsible for defense, has a high boxing IQ and he is very confident in his abilities.

Richardson Hitchins is ranked 13th in the IBF, and he believes he belongs in the conversation with purebreds, but he understands the fact that everything is a process. Hitchins is confident that a clash between him and WBC champion Regis Prograis is possible in the future, but for now, he feels realistic options for his next fight are Montana Love, Steve Spark or Liam Paro.
