Richard Gomez wins silver in int’l sporting clay championships
Leyte Rep. Richard Gomez won the silver medal in the 4th FITASC (Fédération Internationale de Tir aux Armes Sportives de Chasse) Asian Sports Championship (premium class) held in Photaram, Thailand, on the 16th and 17th. November.
This legislator also took 4th place in the Asian Senior Sports Championship for clay sport.
“Thank God for the victory! I won 2nd place for the Asian Senior Champion for the Compak Championship and
4th place for the Asian Senior Sports Champion for clay sport. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!” Gomez said on her social networking site.
“I am very grateful to my friends, family, Juliana and my wife Lucy for being so supportive of the things I love to do like handgun sport,” Gomez also said.
Clay sport is a fast-growing new sport in the Philippines that involves shooting flying clay targets with a shotgun. Gomez, a famous sniper athlete, is the organizer of the Clay Sports Association of the Philippines.
Gomez took second place in the Senior Category after he beat his French opponent, Philippe Delbos, by one point in the death ring. A total of 97 competitors from 22 countries participated in the shooting competition.
