Ricci Rivero, Taoyuan Pilots part ways before P.League+ season start
MANILA, Philippines — Ricci Rivero’s time in Taiwan was cut before it officially started when he was released by Taoyuan Pilots before the start of the P.League +.
Through a Facebook post, The Pilots said Rivero’s injury problems were the reason for his contract termination.
“By mutual agreement, the contract between Pilots and Ricci Rivero will terminate today. General manager Sean Chen said it was a difficult decision,” the post read.
Chen also said that although the former University of the Philippines player stood out as a “very good player with a great attitude,” his past injuries limited his talent in pre-season. prize.
“His past injuries have prevented him from performing at his best during training and pre-season games,” the statement added.
Rivero signed with the Pilot in Junejust a month after winning the UAAP Season 84 basketball championship with the Fighting Maroons.
He flew to Taiwan to join the team in September, a few months before the opening of the P.League + tournament in December.
