The four regional winners for the Lifetime in Racing Awards were announced on Friday. Open to those who have dedicated more than 30 years of their working life to the British equine or thoroughbred industries, they are organized by the Racing Welfare Foundation. The winners are as follows:
- North – Brian Paul, longtime OB unit manager at RaceTech, and York racecourse reservation supervisor Karen Dunbar were highly commendable.
- South – Geoff Rigby, former apprentice and now groom/stable at Park House Stables.
- East – Cliff Lines, now retired but formerly team leader, groom and racing coach, with highly commended former driver, team leader and coach Les Simpson.
- West – Andrew Malam, Head Groundsman at Bangor-On-Dee . Racecourse
Racing Welfare CEO Dawn Goodfellow said, “Once again, I’m delighted to see so many well-deserved nominations from across the racing industry. It is a pleasure to read the stories, and these awards give us the opportunity to shine a light on some of the British equestrian team’s oldest staff who have contributed so much to the sport. Congratulations to the winners and all the nominees. Big thanks to everyone who took the time to put someone forward, and of course the racecourses for generously hosting a VIP day to celebrate our winners. “
