Brett Yormack may be ready to go to Texas and Oklahoma for the SEC, but the schools appear to be in no hurry to move their date out of the Big 12.

“Look, I know people are asking a lot of those questions and that’s fair,” said Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione. “There’s a lot of change all around us. If that facilitates a conversation that needs to happen about an earlier departure then it will.”
SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey was asked about the two teams entering his conference earlier than expected but did not offer any new details.
“It’s not up to me. It’s about the relationship between Oklahoma, Texas and the Big 12,” Sankey said, via ESPN. “We’re focused on the addition taking effect July 1, 2025.”
Texas and Oklahoma’s departures for the Southeast Conference have been a major topic in the collegiate sports world since news of the move was first announced. While it was previously thought of the Big 12 Conference as an event, more shuffling between conferences has taken place in an effort to keep the college sports scene competitive – and to let money from deals. Yormack, who took over as commissioner after Jay-Z’s joining NBA, NASCAR and Roc Nation, has yet to officially begin his new job but has simply proposed an early departure for the two shows. to make the split “more friendly.”
