Report: Odell Beckham Jr. get interest from competing teams
Odell Beckham Jr. is still a free agent with training camp underway and it doesn’t look like he’s anywhere close to signing with a team. However, star recipients are receiving interest.
NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport said Sunday that Beckham has “continued to receive interest from a number of competing teams”. The reporter mentioned the Green Bay Packers as a team that is still in the mix, apart from Los Angeles Rams. The big question is when will Odell sign.
“He is still recovering from an ACL tear and is not expected to be ready for at least the first half of the season,” said Rapoport. “Is it really reasonable to sign Odell Beckham Jr now? … Or is he better off waiting until, I don’t know, October or even early November and maybe another competitive team suddenly has a need. “
That is probably the exact approach Beckham is taking. Since he has not been able to participate in any team activities for quite some time, there is no urgency for him to sign a contract with a team. His service market can only improve if one or more top players are injured. It makes sense for him to be patient in the situation.
Beckham took a while to start with the Rams, but he had 21 receptions and two touchdowns in the knockout stages. The Rams have signed Allen Robinson this season and still have Cooper Kupp, but Beckham could be a dangerous No 3 option for them if they bring him back. He seems to be open to rest in LA.
