Report: Deshaun Watson’s punishment expected on Monday

The Cleveland Browns are still unsure how long they will live without Deshaun Watson, although there is little doubt that a suspension is being worked out for the quarterback. The team will soon have an answer to that question, as Jonathan Jones of CBS says Sentencing from retired judge Sue L. Robinson is expected to be announced on Monday.

According to Jones, the NFL is pushing for an indefinite suspension of Watson.

Watson, 26, has been charged with sexual misconduct, including assault, stemming from meetings with dozens of masseuses. Two grand juries refuses to accuse Watson earlier this year, and he was settle at least 20 out of 24 lawsuits filed a lawsuit against him.

Earlier in 2022, Watson was traded to the Browns by the Houston Texans and signed a five-year, $230 million contract with his new team. Last year, Watson sat out the entire 2021 season after allegations surfaced.

In June and July, Robinson heard arguments from Watson, the NFL, and the NFL Players Association. The NFLPA and Watson legal team reported intends to challenge the penalty in federal court if he is suspended for a year or so.

Watson spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Texas team.
