Regis Program Ready for Jose Zepeda November 26 in Carson, CA

Via Adam Baskin: Regis Prograis will fight for the world title for the first time in three long years as he battles No. 1 Jose Zepeda (35-2, 27 KOs) for the vacant WBC lightweight title at Dignity Health Sports Park, in Carson, California.

Prograis (27-1, 23 KOs) lost the 140-lb WBA title in a unified fight against Josh Taylor three years ago in 2019 and he’s only managed to get one title despite being considered a good boxer. best in the tournament.

Even though Prograis lost the fight to Taylor, he could have easily won that bout had he adapted earlier as he completely overpowered the Scot in the second half as he started teamfights in the outer ring.

Before that, Prograis had foolishly fought Taylor on the inside, it was Josh who was quite talented.

“I always wanted a rematch with Taylor. I definitely want a rematch with Josh Taylor. If that happens, I will deal with that before anything else,” Regis Prograis told. Against TV Hub. “But it depends on the money because there are some big opportunities out there.

“But for me, first and foremost, Zepeda. Zepeda is a killer, and I am a killer. Like I said, Zepeda is a division killer. As for me, I’m not worried about anyone else right now. For the next six, seven weeks, my focus is on Zepeda.

“It was a tough fight. I couldn’t have wanted it any better. What better way to be a two-time champion fighting Zepeda? My goal is to be a two-time champion at the age of 140. I know how good he is. With his match against Josue Vargas, I couldn’t take anything because he took him down too quickly.

“It’s hard to know. He might have peaked early,” Prograis said of Josh Taylor potentially getting distracted for the fight with Jack Catterall. “When he played against me, I didn’t feel like Taylor could have improved any further.

“Being with you, I feel like going up. What I do know about Josh Taylor is that he played a rematch between him with that heart. He wants that back. It will be interesting to see what he does in the rematch against Catterall.

“I want to be more active. I spar all the time. Of course, the wars are different. I want to be more active, but now it is very difficult to be active,” says Prograis.
