Actor and radio presenter Craig Charles said he was taken to hospital after feeling unwell during a BBC radio show.

Charles, known for his roles in Red Dwarf and Coronation Street, told listeners on BBC Radio 6 Music he missed a performance after a 24-hour hospital stay after falling into a mysterious condition. while broadcasting.

“When we were performing on Wednesday…my hand couldn’t hold the pen properly, and my fingers were tingling, and I had pain in the right shoulder, radiating up to my neck and radiating to my back. my head,” he said.

Shortly after work ended at 4pm, the 58-year-old met his wife Jackie, who had driven from BBC headquarters in Salford to Wythenshawe Hospital.

“So I went and waited in the waiting room, it was 4:30 p.m., and they called my name at about 10 to 10 pm.

“Now this is not to disrespect or criticize Wythenshawe Hospital, they are excellent, professional, they are caring and dedicated.”

He was then told that he needed a CT scan – “there’s nothing wrong with the brain, by the way” – and also an MRI, meaning an overnight stay, but the hospital didn’t have one. spare bed.

“So we spent the night in A&E in the triage, with the blue curtain drawn around us – me and Jackie on this single little hospital trolley,” says Charles.

“We were running for about an hour when someone jumped in screaming because he had dislocated his shoulder.

“And when did we wake up and stay awake. We were out of the hospital as soon as Chris [Hawkins] I was finishing my show yesterday, so almost 24 hours in the hospital and they still don’t know what’s wrong with me.

“But at least I know I’m not dead!”
