Now this is something a Chicago fan doesn’t see coming. Detective Jay Halstead will say goodbye Director of Chicago Jesse Lee Soffer Will be leaving the hit NBC series in season 10, the actor confirms Diversity. He will escape Director of Chicago in the fall of 2022.

“I want to thank the incredible fans for their unwavering support over the past 10 years and would like to express my deepest gratitude to Dick Wolf and everyone at Wolf Entertainment, Peter Jankowski, Matt Olmstead, Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, Rick Eid, Gwen Sigan, NBC, Universal Television, my colleagues and our incredible crew,” Jesse said in a statement. “To create drama week after week is the work of everyone who touches the show. I will always be proud of my time as Det. Jay Halstead. “
Jesse was an original member in Director of Chicago since the show premiered in 2014. Halstead has been one of the show’s most beloved characters over the past nine seasons. He is an essential member of the Intelligence Unit, led by Det. Hank Voight. Halstead and his partner, Det. Hailey Upton, get married in season 9. Details on how Halstead will be removed from the program have yet to be revealed.
Over the years, Director of Chicago has passed its fair share of the exits. Sophia Bushwho played Erin Lindsay, left the series at the end of season 4. Elias Koteas, aka Det. Alvin Olinsky, exited at the end of season 5 after his character was killed. Jon Seda, who played Det. Antonio Dawson, left Chicago PD at the end of season 6.

Jason Beghe, Tracy Spiradakos, Marina Squerciati, Patrick Flueger, LaRoyce Hawkinsand Amy Morton All are back for season 10. Benjamin Levy Aguilarwhose character Dante Torres was introduced at the end of season 9, has been upgraded to a series regular for season 10. Chicago PD Season 10 premieres September 21 at 10 p.m. on NBC.
