Read Infosys HR’s ‘warning’ letter to employees on Moonlight

India’s IT industry is waning in terms of lunar illumination. Just a few weeks later Wipro Chairperson Rishad Premji described moonlight as “cheating – simple and straightforward”, Infosys sent a stern warning email to staff. In a letter sent from HR, Infosys made it clear that moonlighting under the employee code of conduct is not permitted and any violation will result in disciplinary action which may include: Termination of employment. This is a letter sent by Infosys’ employee relations team (TOI reviewed a copy of internal communications).
Moonlighting refers to performing a second job or more job duties during normal/out of business hours. Dual employment in India or dual employment rule in India means employed by more than one employer at the same time.
At Infosys, dual employment is not permitted under the Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct. As stated in your invitation letter.
“You agree not to accept employment, whether full-time or part-time, as a Director / Partner / Member / Employee of any other organization / Entity engaged in any form of conduct any business without Infosys’ consent Consent may be given subject to any terms and conditions it deems appropriate and may be withdrawn at any time. at the discretion of the company.”
Any violation of these terms will result in disciplinary action, possibly even termination of employment.
The letter ended with the line: No two times – No moonlight.
It also requires employees to contact their BPHR for clarification.
