The Razer Viper Ultimate is a legendary ultra-light mouse that offers optical switches, bulletproof wireless, a convenient charging dock, and a 74-gram lightweight design. That’s probably why this ultra-premium option debuted at an attractive price of $149.99 when it launched three years ago. For now, though, Amazon is offering the Viper Ultimate for its lowest price ever, just $59.99, including the fancy magnetic charging dock. This is a great deal – and I’m not just saying that because I use this mouse on a daily basis (and have done so for years).
So: Razer Viper Ultimate. There are a lot of reasons why this mouse remains steadfastly on my desk despite the plethora of other gaming mice that regularly come in for review. I think shape is key – despite its low weight, which is ideal for competitive gaming, the ambidextrous shape accommodates a wide range of hand sizes, and the side buttons on the left and right mean left and right handed people can use it equally comfortably.
Inside, if you have x-ray vision, you can see optical mouse switches register faster than traditional mechanical switches; At the bottom, there’s a compartment for a 2.4GHz wireless USB dongle and gold pogo pins for the charging dock. There’s also a Micro USB port (and the included super-flexible charging cable), but if you have a dock this is a more convenient option, as you can simply hold down the mouse between games (or when you leave the PC) and come back with a full mouse.
Looking at Amazon’s price chart, this mouse sold for $100 for most of 2021, before dropping to the $80 mark in November and then $75 on Black Friday. As a result, this $60 asking price is a new historic low and a significant improvement over the $100 or so price point for most of its life.
You don’t even have to believe me. There are tons of rave reviews for the Viper Ultimate online, and this mouse remains a Razer flagship to this day – nothing beats it.
