Rangers survived with a 5-3 win over Penguins in game 5


Leading 2-0 in the second half, the New York Rangers passed Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1 the rest of the way, earn a Win 5-3 in game 5 on Wednesday night.

Victory keeps Rangers’ season alive, as they are now trailing the Penguins 3-2 in a best-of-seven series.

After Pittsburgh’s Jake Guentzel opened the scoring in the first inning, Kris Letang gave the Penguins a 2-0 7:58 lead in the second.

About 15 minutes into the second half, Rangers would respond with three goals in less than three minutes. First, Adam Fox put New York on the board at 15:11, followed by Alexis Lafreniere tally at 16:41 to tie things up at 2-2. A minute later, Jacob Touba made a backhand past Penguins goalkeeper Louis Domingue to give Rangers a 3-2 lead. However, Pittsburgh made a comeback 13 seconds later with Guentzel’s second goal, and the two teams entered the second half to close 3-3.

At 2:53 in the third round, Filip Chytil scored the only power of the game to put Rangers ahead; Ryan Lindgren will score another goal into the empty net to seal the victory.

Rangers keeper Igor Shesterkin organized well early on, making 29 saves from Penguins’ 32 shots to score the goal.

Rangers will consider to force a Game 7, head to Pittsburgh for Game 6 at 7pm
