Random: Uh-Oh, Some Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Players Are Having Trouble With the “Small” Text
Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake has been out for a week now, and while it’s received a lot of praise in its home country of Japan, it seems like some players are having trouble with the game – especially on the Switch.
EQUAL highlighted by Automaton MediaONE article by Weekly Josei Prime cited several local player reviews of the game and a common problem that seems to be popping up for many veteran players. Dragon Quest III player is the size of the text in this latest remake. Many players think that the “small” text hurts their eyes.
If you’re also playing on the Switch in handheld mode, this may not necessarily help the situation. Automaton further notes that “the game’s target audience is aging and visionary” and that many of these players may be struggling 36 years later. Here is one of the translated comments:
“The Dragon Quest 3 remake is great, but as someone from the Dragon Quest generation, the Switch screen makes it difficult for me to see ahead. The text is too small”
It seems that Nintendo legend Takaya Imamura even endorsed this with a simple “uh-oh” on his social media account…
There are plenty of quality-of-life options in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, including the ability to speed up text and even adjust the camera angle to give a closer perspective (which we found useful). useful when switching between TV and monitor settings), but unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any ability to enhance the size of the text.
Square Enix is likely to roll out a patch that will allow users to increase the text size in the game, but there is currently no official update on that. Although some players seem to have difficulty with the text, this remake is still worth checking out. The main issue we think the Switch release has is some performance issues.
