The developers behind the iOS app Deltawhich allows users to emulate thousands of Nintendo games on iPhone and iPad, hastily updated the app’s logo after receiving a legal threat from Photoshop creator Adobe (thanks, The Verge).

In the update via the App Store, the notes simply state “Adobe threatened legal action unless we changed our app icon – so we did! Hope you enjoy It “. The new permanent logo has not yet been revealed, but for now, the old logo has been humorously modified to avoid any possible similarities.

According to an email from developer Riley Testut to The Verge, Adobe’s lawyers have reached out to request the use of a different logo in the future, although no explicit threats were made. However, just a day later, an email from Apple suggested that the Delta app itself was at risk of being removed, citing information from Adobe that said Delta was violating its intellectual property rights.

The developers responded to both Adobe and Apple that the logo is based on the stylized Greek letter ‘delta’ and not the letter ‘A’, however they pledged to change it in time to ‘avoid confusion’ (and the obvious legal issues that could ensue).

So for now, we have a rather odd logo to deal with, but Delta developers hope to have a new permanent logo ready to match the Delta 1.6 rollout.
