Random: More classic Mario figurines survive to fight another day thanks to 3D scanning

We’ve highlighted the excellent scanning work of @KeshiCorner a few times on Nintendo Life. This is a vintage enthusiast who tried to preserve the vintage style Zelda And Mario The rubber “Keshi” figurines passed through the magic of 3D scanning and now they are back with a new collection.

It’s a 1993’s range Super Mario Bros 2 characters are attracting attention this time, with five new designs featuring Birdo, Shy Guy, Ninji, Mouser and Wart. As was the case with previous Keshi Corner collections, these figures are hard to find today, but 3D scans of them are now available on Internet Archive for home printing or more general preservation.

These drawings can be found in Japanese gachapon machine capsules in the 90s, where they were made of unpainted, semi-rigid rubber. Range in 1993, coinciding with Super Mario All-Stars‘ The SNES release, includes several re-released Keshi characters from previous collections, although the five newly scanned characters are completely new – and Wart and Birdo’s designs are even reissued in deluxe gold three years later.
