Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday to inaugurate a series of development projects. The visit comes a month after Indian and Chinese troops clashed along the Line of Actual Control in the Tawang area.

Mr. Singh will inaugurate the Siyom Bridge near Boleng in Siang district and also inaugurate 27 projects of the Border Roads Organization (BRO) online.

The 100-meter-long Siyom Bridge over the Siyom River is a strategically important bridge as it offers a military strategic advantage in deploying troops to remote areas of the Line of Actual Control.

The Border Roads Organization (BRO) has built a total of 3,097 km of roads in Arunachal Pradesh over the past 5 years, many of which lead to the front areas.

In a statement to Parliament, Rajnath Singh said the Chinese military attempted to “unilaterally” change the status quo along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Yangtze area of ​​Tawang area of ​​Arunachal Pradesh in December 9, but the Indian Army forced them to do so. withdrew with its “sure and firm” response.

The confrontation comes amid border tensions that have lasted more than 30 months between the two sides in eastern Ladakh.
