Effective Sunday, July 18, 2022, wallets at Assiniboia Downs have been increased across the board. Highlights include a 25% increase in the first special weight class races to $20,000 and a 20% increase in the warming open allowance of $24,000 while a new minimum purse for races the ‘open’ bet has been increased to $40,000.

“Our community of owners, trainers and riders continues to support the racing program here,” said Darren Dunn, CEO of Winnipeg Racecourse, Manitoba. “We are happy to be in a position to introduce these increases to the wallet. We fully appreciate what it takes to deliver a competitive season and we look forward to continuing to work together to deliver the best performance possible. “

Tracking reports better than 60% betting growth in the first part of the season. According to one release, the competitive race along with the drop in player numbers and the Free Player Portal were to blame for that success.

Assiniboia Downs races nightly Monday through Wednesday. This track hosts the Manitoba Derby on August 1.
