Raids At 35 Places Across Delhi, Punjab, Hyderabad In Liquor Policy Case

New Delhi:

The Directorate General of Enforcement today conducted new raids at 35 locations in Delhi, Punjab and Hyderabad, deepening the alleged money laundering investigation of anomalies in the now-dropped Delhi alcohol policy. .

Searches are underway at facilities affiliated with liquor companies, distributors and supply chain networks in these states.

The action begins early in the morning with groups of agents seen leaving headquarters for locations.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, attacked the center, calling the raids “dirty politics”.

“More than 500 raids, since 3 months, more than 300 CBI/ED officers are working 24 hours – a sweep for evidence against Manish Sisodia. Couldn’t find anything because there wasn’t any. what is done,” tweeted Mr. Kejriwal in Hindi.

“So many officers’ time is being wasted on their dirty politics. How can such a country progress?” he added.

The policy money laundering case, which has become the latest focus between the ruling AAP and the BJP, stems from a CBI FIR in which Delhi Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia and several Delhi government officials have been charged. The CBI is investigating whether the policy supports wine cartels.

The BJP alleges massive corruption in its policy of allowing retailers to offer large discounts to attract buyers. However, the AAP says its policy is aimed at curbing corruption and accuses the BJP of abusing central authorities for political purposes.

Wine businessman Sameer Mahendru was arrested last week by the investigating agency that has conducted several raids on the case. His arrest came a day after Vijay Nair, AAP’s communications director and close aide to Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia, by the CBI.

The Delhi Special Consumption Policy, implemented since 17 November last year, was scrapped by the Arvind Kejriwal government in July this year following a CBI poll recommended by the Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena implementation of this policy. Mr Saxena alleges that the policy was carried out “with the sole purpose” of benefiting private liquor tycoons by causing great losses to the company.

The Central Governor also suspended eleven special officials involved in the case.
