Winner of Group 2 Raclette (GB) (Frankel {GB}) was added to the G1 Yorkshire Oaks on August 18, according to coach Andre Fabre. Named ‘Rising star TDN’ in Deauville last August, the bay won the prestigious Melisande Award at ParisLongchamp two starting back in June, and won the G2 Prix de Malleret in the shirt of the late Prince Khalid Abdullah on July 14. .
“She will be added to the Yorkshire Oaks,” said Fabre. “Now that she’s grown up and stepped up to 12 matching feather clips for her most recent outing, she’s really fine.
“I think she wants good ground – good land to do it for sure, quickly is what she wants. Hopefully it’ll be dry in August as that encounter can be mild at times.
“I don’t think she’ll make it to the Finals this year because she’s still a bit weak. Maybe next year she will be stronger.”
The coach also gave an update on the Group 1 winner Mare Australis (Ire) (Australia {GB}), who reached the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.
“He had a good reason,” said Fabre, “he became unbalanced on the track and was pushed out of the race and another horse galloped at his heel. “That said, he has been to Saint-Cloud before and was disappointed, so he may not have enjoyed the course.
“He’s going to be preparing for the Arc and then the Arc, he likes Longchamp so it makes sense to take him there.”
