Gerwyn Price missed a 12-double for a nine-point goal but ‘The Iceman’ remained calm to win the final shootout against Damon Heta at the Queensland Darts Masters on Friday.

Price, who nailed all fours to perfection in 2022 – including two at Premier League Night Three in Belfast – exceeded the landing potential of the darts holy grail in the decisive match on his way to defeating Damon Heta 6-5 with an average of 98.6 and 180.

Fresh from winning the World Match in Blackpool, Michael van Gerwen nowhere near his classic best as he survived a scare to beat the energetic Bailey Marsh 6-5.

The Dutchman recovered 4-2 to beat Marsh in the 20-year-old qualifier in a tense situation.

Fallon Sherrock’s hopes of reaching the quarterfinals of the World Series event were dealt a blow when she convincingly suffered a 6-3 defeat to Gordon Mathers – who have spent the last 18 months in the UK competing as a PDC Travel Cardholder.

Women’s world match champion Sherrock produced a spectacular 160 test in the fourth leg of the match, but that wasn’t enough as she attempted a comeback against Brisbane’s Mathers.

Dimitri Van den Bergh kicked off the World Series Down Under with a stunning 164th finish on the way to a 6-2 win over Koha Kokiri.

Joe Cullen averaging over 108 to vindicate Dave Marland in quick-fire fashion, but Jonny Clayton suffered a surprise 6-2 defeat to New Zealand’s Haupai Puha.
