Queen Elizabeth’s scrambled eggs recipe was shared by nutritionist Lee Holmes on Instagram Reels. According to the post, one of Holmes’ friends claims she cooked for the Queen a few years ago. So Lee also tried making these scrambled eggs the way the Queen likes and she loves the recipe too. “One of my lovely friends was lucky enough to cook for the Queen and she shared with me her favorite scrambled egg recipe,” she wrote on her blog. “Ma’am, sometimes you like to start your day with a high-protein breakfast and these eggs are made in a way that you especially like,” she added.

According to the recipe on Lee Holmes’ blog, Queen Elizabeth’s scrambled egg recipe calls for using brown eggs rather than white eggs. While the other ingredients for scrambled eggs are pretty ordinary, there are two that stand out from the rest – lemon zest and a pinch of nutmeg. Chopped chives and kippers can also be used to serve up a delectable egg dish that is said to be one of the Queen’s favourites.

Here’s the full recipe for Queen Elizabeth II’s scrambled eggs shared by Lee Holmes:

Element:

  • 3 organic eggs (brown)
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter or extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • Freshly crushed black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped chives and peppers to serve (optional)

Method:

  1. Beat eggs and milk in a bowl until well combined. Add salt to taste.
  2. Heat butter or olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the eggs and turn the heat to low, using a spatula to slowly move the eggs around the pan so they don’t stick to the bottom.
  3. Just before starting to set, add the lemon zest, nutmeg, and salt, if desired, and stir well.
  4. Serve immediately, garnish with pepper and chives.
