A filly by Quality Sugar helped get Keeneland’s September Annual Sale off to a quick start Monday in Lexington when it sold for $1.2 million. Bernie Sams of Claiborne Farms signed the ticket in aspiration on behalf of an undisclosed client. The bay filly (hip 8) deposited by Gainesway and bred by Mandy Pope’s Whisper Hill Ranch, which purchased her dam, Princesa Silvia (Medaglia d’Oro). Funtastic (More than ready) and the classified winner Quiet Giant (Giant’s Causeway) who is at the top Gunman.
