Quakecon 2022 will be a digital event for the third year in a row

The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on live events for several years now. Although the overall number of infections has declined in recent months, many companies continue to be cautious about holding public gatherings, and Quakecon is one of them. The show’s organizers have announced that for the third year in a row, Quakecon 2022 will be a digital-only event.

In one post on twitterThe organizers revealed that Quakecon will take place from August 18-20, and more details will take place in June. They explained that there is continued uncertainty around holding large gatherings. This year makes it difficult to commit to a gig in the time it takes. However, Quakecon will return to a normal human state in 2023. You can read the full statement below:

This year’s QuakeCon will once again be a digital-only event, August 18-20, 2022.

Like you, we are disappointed not to return to Dallas this year. An event of this scale requires months of planning, and in this case, we had to make a decision when there was still too much uncertainty to commit to a successful live QuakeCon.

The QuakeCon team has been working hard to put together exciting new streaming shows, online meetups, giveaways, charity opportunities, virtual BYOCs, etc and we will announce more details next month 6.

We’re committed to returning to our full live festival in 2023 and looking forward to reconnecting with friends, a giant BYOC filled with your latest custom PC creations, contests our crazy as well as lots of great new games and hardware for attendees to try.

We can’t wait to see you online this August and in person next year.

Quakecon is a digital event in Year 2020 and Year 2021, with last year’s show being free to attend. This news is not far off from E3 2022’s cancel completely last month due to similar concerns, although this month’s PAX East has committed to becoming a physical conference. Each company has its own level of comfort in dealing with the pandemic, and while the situation has improved, we probably won’t see every event fully return from at least 2023 and possibly beyond. more.
