Qatar scandal: Exclusive BBC interview on trauma of invasive medical examinations

A British woman says she is still in shock after being subjected to an aggressive medical check by Qatari authorities on the tarmac of Doha’s Hamad International Airport in October 2020.

Authorities are searching for the mother of an infant found in a plastic bag in a trash can in the departures lounge.

Speaking exclusively to the BBC, Mandy says what happened to her and many other women that night was like an assault and breach for which they received no apology.

Now a group of five Australian women, including Anna (who did not want to use her real name), who was searched and stripped in the incident, are suing the Qatari authorities and the national airline.

They filed a lawsuit in the High Court of New South Wales in Sydney. The BBC understands that the documents were served at Qatar Airways Australia headquarters in Melbourne on Thursday.
