MANILA, Philippines—Pia Ildefonso has decided to go pro and join the Farm Fresh Foxies ahead of the 2023 English Premier League Volleyball Invitation Conference on June 27 at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan.

Farm Fresh, the newest PVL club, on Saturday welcomed the former Ateneo Blue Eagle.

After sidelining UAAP Season 85 but not disclosing the reason, which appeared to be a personal matter, the 5-foot-9 midfield player chose to restart his volleyball career.

Ildefonso said in a statement: “I just wanted a fresh start and what better way to get that than by joining a fresh na nasa pangalan na ang team.

The daughter of basketball legend Danny Ildefonso will join her brothers Dave and Shaun in the pro ranks.

The youngest Ildefonso is eager to learn from the best as she will be taken over by two-time NCAA champion coach Jerry Yee of the College of Saint Benilde.

She is also looking forward to working with the core of the Lady Blazers led by Gayle Pascual, Season 98 Finals MVP Jade Gentapa, Cloanne Mondoñedo, Michelle Gamit, Zam Nolasco and Jessa Dorog.

“Right now, I’m just someone who wants to learn more about the sport from one of the best coaches in the country. I want to love sport again and with the help of my lovely teammates, who are very talented,” she said. “I hope to get there with hard work and passion. Sobrang daming kailangan matutunan lalo na from the veterans of the team and that excites me.”

Ildefonso, a high school student at Nazareth School, played his rookie year with the Blue Eagles in UAAP Season 84 last June but coach Oliver Almadro rarely tossed her onto the field as they finished bronze.

The 20-year-old also played a key role in Ateneo’s pre-season in Shakey’s Super League and last year’s V-League, and also featured in the women’s 85th season beach volleyball tournament, placing seventh with one game. win.

Farm Fresh is placed in Group B along with Petro Gazz, F2 Logistics, Choco Mucho, Cignal and the new team Foton.

Group A has defending champions Creamline, Chery Tiggo, PLDT, Akari and Gerflor with the top two teams each advancing to the semi-finals of a one-round round-robin where two foreign teams will participate.
