MANILA, Philippines—F2 Logistics had a tough sweep against Cignal, 25-23, 25-20, 25-23, during the Premiere Volleyball League All-Philippines Conference at Philsports Arena on Sunday.

After need five long sets to survive Creamline in their climactic clash last week, Cargo Movers, who improved to 4-1, needed just an hour and 47 minutes this time to beat the HD Spikers.

“This is our goal, to finish the game faster and dominate the game so I think we are on the right track. Hopefully these moments will continue,” coach Regine Diego said.

However, a sweep doesn’t always mean easy and that was evident in F2’s win in the third and final set.

After a number of tit-for-tat moves in the closing set of the match, Toni Basas broke the 22-to-all deadlock with a cross-court kill to put Cignal ahead, 23-22 before Kim Kianna Dy solved the problem himself and scored two points in a row to bring home the Cargo Movers to match points.

Father Cruz-Behag sealed the victory with a knockout.

HD Spikers, who were trailing 1-4, tried to engage but couldn’t make the shot needed to save the set.

With F2 at the helm in the second set, 17-12, HD Spikers lifted a 7-2 rally to reduce the deficit to one, 20-19. Abby Maraño paused the run and Cargo Movers managed to regain momentum with Dy’s breakthrough and Kim Fajardo’s trump card ending the game.

In the opening set, Aby Maraño gave F2 Logistics a score with a block. Fajardo attempted a spike that resulted in a cyber breach, followed by Myla Pablo’s external breach, giving Cignal a bit of a life.

With Cargo Movers leading by one lead, 24-23, Maraño demanded a cease-fire on errors and converted a running attack to give F2 a 1-0 set advantage.

Dy scored 22 points on 21 spikes while Maraño finished with 14 points to her name, built on seven blocks.

No player has scored double digits for Cignal with Rose Doria topping the tally with nine points.
