PV Sindhu pulls out of World Championships owing to stress fracture | Badminton News
In a statement she shared on Twitter, the two Olympic medalist confirmed that she will miss the 2022 World Championships.
Sindhu won the 2019 World Championships gold medal, along with two silver and two bronze medals.
“While I was on my way to winning the CWG gold medal for India. Unfortunately, I had to withdraw from the world championship. I felt pain and had a scare injury at the CWG quarterfinals, but With the help of my coach, fitness guru and trainer, I decided to push as far as I could,” Sindhu said in the statement.

“I couldn’t stand the pain during the final. So I rushed to get an MRI as soon as I got back to Hyderabad. The doctors confirmed I had a stress fracture in my left foot and advised me to do it. I should rest for a few weeks. I should be back in training. in a few weeks. Thank you all for the love and support,” she added.
The World Championships will be held in Tokyo from August 21 to August 28.

Sindhu added another CWG singles gold to his streak with a convincing win over Michelle Li of Canada.
The world number seven from India overcame her 13th-ranked opponent 21-15, 21-13 in front of a large crowd at the NEC arena in Birmingham.
This is Sindhu’s second gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, having previously won the gold in 2018 in the mixed team event. She also has a silver and a bronze in women’s singles from the 2018 and 2014 editions, respectively.
The 27-year-old Sindhu also has two Olympic medals. She won a silver medal in women’s singles in 2016 and was followed by a bronze medal in Tokyo last year.
