PV Sindhu Pulls Out Of Badminton World Championships With Injury

Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu will miss this year’s world badminton championships after withdrawing from the tournament due to an ankle injury. Sindhu recently won the women’s singles gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and later revealed that she played the final due to injury. On social media, Sindhu announced his decision to withdraw from the tournament.
“While I was on the cusp of winning the CWG gold medal for India, unfortunately I had to withdraw from the World Championship. I felt pain and had a scare injury at the CWG quarterfinals, but with the With the help of my coach, fitness and trainer, I decided to push as far as I could,” Sindhu said in an official statement.
“I couldn’t stand the pain during the final. So I rushed to get an MRI as soon as I got back to Hyderabad. The doctors confirmed I had a stress fracture in my left foot and advised me to do it. I should rest for a few weeks. I should be back will be training in a few weeks. Thank you all for your love and support,” the statement added.

The World Championships will begin on August 21 and will run until August 28.
Sindhu has a 1st place finish at the World Championships, she won a gold medal in 2019, and has two silver and two bronze medals.
Sindhu was one of India’s chess players at CWG 2022, and went on to help India finish fourth in total, winning the women’s singles gold on the final day of the prestigious event. She was also a member of the Indian side that won the silver medal in the mixed team event.

This is Sindhu’s second gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, having previously won the gold in 2018 in the mixed team event. She also has a silver and a bronze in the women’s singles from 2-18 and 2014.
Sindhu also has two Olympic medals. She won the women’s singles silver medal in 2016 and was followed by a bronze medal at Tokyo 2020.
