PuzzMiX is one of my favorite Suika game clones
With feeling Suiko game has become, there are many watermelon imitation games. Many are very similar to the originals, but with word changes suitable fruit to other character types. Inti Create’ puzzleMiX add some Azure Striker Gunvolt Mixed flavors for the budget Suika game clones sometimes feel a little more strategic.
Lola and her Lola Spheres are the focus puzzleMiX. Your goal is to pair similar ones so they grow into a bigger one. Then you pair it with its match to create an even bigger one. This will further increase your score. When you fill the box and the Lola Spheres start flying out or cross the top line, you lose. That’s typical of Suika game style. The exception is what this concerns Azure Striker Gunvolt characters and it all happens while songs from the series are played.
However, what really drew me into the game and made me appreciate it was the appearance of the Lola Spheres. These are not shapes that are 90% circular. Many of them have linear accents. This means they can cling to each other, not move, and are actually positioned in more static ways. With Suika game and other clones, there’s an element of physics and momentum that ensures everything goes smoothly. That doesn’t happen here, so someone needs to be more cautious about placement and positioning. I find it a little more strategic.
There are unpleasant things that stick around puzzleMiX from being the best Suika game However, the copy I have experienced. One is Lola’s constant commentary. There’s no option to turn it off and her appendages will get really uncomfortable. Especially since sometimes there are moments that sound like they overlap.
The remaining problem is, unlike the others Suika game clone, there is no chart that allows you to follow the evolution of the Lola Spheres in PuzzMiX. If you play regularly, you will catch up. But other titles followed Suika gameexample of and shows what results in the highest equivalent of “watermelon.” That doesn’t happen here and it’s detrimental to the game.
For a budget game, puzzleMiX Looks and sounds quite good. It’s a fun diversion. The shape of the Lola Spheres is enough to make them interesting from a confusing perspective. The music is also a highlight, especially since you can unlock more tracks. I wouldn’t say it’s better than the original Suika gamebut it is one of the better copies.
puzzleMiX available for Nintendo SwitchPlayStation 4 and PC.
