A New Jersey family is suing Boyd Funeral Home in Camden after accusing the facility of placing the wrong body in their loved one’s coffin.

According to NJ.comThe 81-year-old husband and father passed away on February 11, 2023. His family then arranged for Boyd Funeral Home in Camden to hold his viewing and cremation.
However, on February 17, the man’s family went to the funeral to check on the arrangements. They allegedly discovered another body in the coffin of their relative. Additionally, their visit took place the day before their loved one’s ceremony was held.
“[Family members]… immediately became distressed and angry when they saw another unrecognizable body wearing (his) clothes and belongings,” said the family’s lawsuit, which was reportedly filed on September 5, said. NJ.com.
Furthermore, during the visit, an employee of the funeral home showed messages from the company director’s family. According to reports, they showed officials that the body in the coffin was correct. At that time, a makeup artist also allegedly tried to convince the family that the body in the coffin was that of their relative.
