But, PUBG gaming app was blocked by MeitY in 2020 and PUBG game is not available in India since then,” Chandrasekhar said in a reply.

According to him, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has received various reports and complaints when it received a notification that blocked applications are appearing with new avatars using the names. sounds similar or renamed with the same function and all such reports have been forwarded to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for examination.

Asked about the government’s order to remove mobile apps and the reason for the removal of apps from 2020, Chandrasekhar said the government’s goal is to ensure an open, secure, reliable and responsible internet. with users.

In a separate written response, he said the government has announced its Information Technology Code (Intermediary Guidelines and Code of Ethics for Digital Media), 2021.

He added: “The rules provide for the removal of an app, if an app is deemed illegal under applicable law, through the playstore or the app store when requested by the appropriate government or their authorized agency.

The minister also said that MeitY does not keep any details about the removal of mobile applications under the IT Code, 2021.
