Bhopal:

A Parliamentary MLA from Madhya Pradesh and several others have been named in a police case for looting urea manure from a distribution center in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam district after farmers complained they were not being supplied. fertilizer supply, police said Friday.

MLA Manoj Chawla of Alot constituency and Parliament leader Yogendra Singh Jadon and others have been charged over the incident that took place on Thursday night, Police Chief Abhishekh Tiwari told reporters.

Based on the complaint filed by the person in charge of the center, a case was registered for robbery and assault of a public official, among other offenses. Police are also trying to identify others involved in the robbery through a video of the incident, he said.

District collector Narendra Kumar Suryavanshi said there is no shortage of urea in the district and fertilizers are also being distributed offline.

According to eyewitnesses, Mr. Chawla arrived at the center after some farmers who waited for hours at the center complained that they were not receiving urea from the center and organized a protest.

Officials have been told they are unable to supply urea due to an online glitch, which will be fixed within a day, they said.

They say the angry MLA Congress ordered the farmers present to take away bags of fertilizer and “facilitate” the looting by opening the warehouse doors.
