Rene Piechulek believes Torquator Tasso has every chance to successfully defend his Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe title in the fall.
The five-year-old shocked 80/1 in last year’s ParisLongchamp standout, winning with huge odds for coach Marcel Weiss and his driver Piechulek to win in Preis von Baden Group First Prize in his warm-up event.

A repeat in Grosser Preis von Baden is next on the agenda for September 4, with Piechulek reporting Adlerflug’s son is at home in good form.
He said: “He’s fine. He’s fine. When he got back from King George, the coach was very happy with him.
“He ran a perfect race. Everyone was happy – the coach, the owner and me. The next stop was Baden-Baden.
“The plan is working at the moment. He knows he’ll be in any race – fast race, slow race. He loves racing and loves soft ground. He’s a real horse. well – he won four First Prizes.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing him again in the Arc. You’d think he’d get every chance again.”
