Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe: Charlie Appleby rules Leger hero Hurricane Lane out of ParisLongchamp Group One | Racing news

Hurricane Lane, third in last year’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, has been excluded from Sunday’s extension at ParisLongchamp, Godolphin coach Charlie Appleby has confirmed.

Coming in third against stable teammate Adayar in last season’s Derby, Frankel’s son went on to knock out his Irish equivalent before taking second in Group One with a clear success in the Grand Prix de Paris , leading to a six-time winning streak.

He then justified the odds bias when he landed the second Classic, taking down St Leger with ease before finishing 3/4 of the length behind Torquator Tasso in the Arc.

However, Hurricane Lane, a 25-1 overall chance for this year’s competition, will not be among those lining up Sunday.

Things have not gone according to plan this term with a quick run against him throughout the summer, reducing him to two outings, finishing third ahead of Broome in Hardwicke at Royal Ascot and being beaten by Alpinista beat more than 11 lengths in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.

“I can confirm that Hurricane Lane will not be left out of tomorrow’s pause,” Appleby said.

The team can still be represented by Adayar, who is best rated 9-1 after a winning season at Doncaster earlier this month.
