Electric vehicle charging stations are just as vulnerable to cyberattacks and cybersecurity incidents as any other application of technology, Congress was told Thursday. In a written reply to Lok Sabha, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said the Computer Emergency Response Team of India (CERT-In), which is tasked with tracking and monitoring cybersecurity incidents in India , has received reports of vulnerabilities in electric vehicle-related products and applications. charging station.
“The government is fully aware of the various cybersecurity threats and is actively taking steps to combat the problem of hacking,” Gadkari said.
He said that according to information reported and tracked by CERT-In, the number of cybersecurity incidents in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 was 208,456; 3,94,499; 11,58,208; 14,02,809 and 13,91,457, respectively.
In response to a separate question, the minister of roads and highways said $Rs 147 lakh has been disbursed to compensate victims of runaway accidents in the current financial year till February.
The Department has announced the Compensation Program for Victims of Crash and Runaway Motorcycle Accidents, 2022.
It provides for increased compensation for the victims of hit-and-run accidents, $50,000 (in case of serious injury) and $2,00,000 (in case of death) including detailed procedure for receiving this compensation.
In response to another question, Gadkari said the ministry has set a higher target of 12,200 km of National Highway construction in the current financial year compared to the previous three fiscal years.
“The goal of building a bank for the fiscal year 2023-2024 has not been finalized yet,” he added.
The Minister said that there are 19 capital projects $21,864 billion dong delayed due to slow land clearance.
