Prison truck attack in France: The hunt for escaped prisoners enters the second day

Amra was convicted of burglary on May 10 and indicted by prosecutors in Marseille for kidnapping resulting in death.

His lawyer, Hugues Vigier, told French news channel BFMTV “he wants to believe that he [Amra] unaware of the plan to free him”.

Mr Vigier added: “To me, this plan is inconsistent with what I know about him. If he is behind it then I don’t understand who he is.”

According to some French press reported, outsideAmra attempted to escape from his cell earlier this week by attempting to saw the cell’s bars.

Ms. Beccuau, capital state prosecutor, said at a press conference that Amra has 13 criminal records, the first of which occurred in October 2009 – when he was only 15 years old.

Although the now 30-year-old was not a “prisoner under close observation”, the Paris prosecutor said his transport required a “third degree escort”.

Amra is believed to have ties to a gang in the southern city of Marseille, which is plagued by drug-related gang violence.

But his criminal record to date does not include any convictions for drug crimes, Paris prosecutors said on Tuesday.
