Prince Harry revealed he has a nickname that refers to his “reserve” status
Next a quick visit arriving in the UK on Monday, Prince Harry returning to another place he used to call home. On Tuesday, Harry continued his world tour with a trip to Lesotho, the small African country where he spent a gap year in 2003. During the visit, he was there to help King Letsie III And Queen Masenate Mohato Seeiso celebrate the 200th anniversary of the country’s founding. Afterward, Senate Princess Seeiso shared footage of Harry and his longtime friend Prince Seeiso discussion about Sentebale, HIV/AIDS charity they co-founded in 2006while sitting by the fire.
In the video, Harry talks about how far Sentebale has come in addressing their original goals, helping young people affected by the AIDS crisis in Lesotho and Botswana. “Stigma is breaking down in this country and also in Botswana. We are achieving our goals, not just Sentebale but in general, all the partners,” he said. “It’s making a big difference, and it’s a surge of energy, optimism and the voices of young people, from 6 to 25 years old.”
In another video, Seeiso revealed that Harry was given a special nickname in this country, Mohale, when he visited in 2003. “He is now my younger brother, Mohale, the warrior,” Seeiso speak. “The experience, breathing the same air, eating the same food as the children, the shepherds, the shepherds, inspired the dream to get to where we are now.”
This name actually belonged to another historical accessory. Mohale is the name of the younger brother of the founder of Lesotho in the 19th century moshoe shoesand in the country’s oral traditionMohale is remembered as a brave warrior. The capital of this small country, Mohales Hoek, is named after the historical figure, with the addition of the Afrikaans word for “corner”.
IN a statementHarry’s office confirmed Mohale is his nickname in the country. “As the 200th anniversary of the founding of Lesotho takes place, Prince Harry’s presence demonstrates deep respect for the country’s heritage and people,” the statement continued. “He ended the evening feeling uplifted by the dedication and determination of all participants, reinforcing the belief that, united in purpose, they can create a brighter tomorrow .”
Harry’s visit is his first public trip to southern Africa since he and his wife Meghan Markle traveling with a six month old baby Prince Archie in 2019. According to APHarry will continue to host a series of meetings for Sentebale in the South African capital of Johannesburg.
