Prince Harry is believed to have stayed with his mother’s family while he returned home for the funeral.
August 28, Prince Harry And Prince William both attended the funeral of their uncle, Sir Robert Fellowes, Princess Diana’s brother-in-law and longtime aide to Queen Elizabeth II in Norfolk. According to Everybody, Harry also visited his mother’s estate, Althorp House, where he stayed with his uncle. Charles Spencer, on a trip to the UK.
The memorial service for Fellowes, who died on July 29, took place at St. Mary’s Church in Snettisham, Norfolk, about two hours from the Northamptonshire estate where Diana lived as a teenager and where she was buried. Saturday marks the 27th anniversary of the princess’s death, and Spencer marked the day on his Instagram account by sharing newspaper clippings from her 1964 christening. (Earl Spencer did not immediately respond to a request for comment.)

The ceremony was attended by Diana’s sisters. Baroness Jane Fellowes And Mrs. Sarah McCorquodale, Harry and William sat with different groups of maternal cousins. Throughout the weekend, Daily Beast Diana’s extended family has been making efforts to mend the relationship between the two brothers, who have reportedly not spoken to each other for years, it was reported.
“Behind the scenes, the Spencers have been working hard to reconcile the brothers. They understand William’s pain over Harry’s betrayal, but they also understand Harry’s position because of the way the Windsors treated Diana,” a Spencer family friend told the outlet. “Harry remains very close to his mother’s family. If anyone can mediate between the brothers, it would be Jane.”
Althorp House opens its doors to visitors each year during the summer months, and this year’s visiting season ends on August 29. In his memoirs, Preventive, Harry wrote about taking the wife away, Meghan Markle, to visit Diana’s grave at the estate for the first time in 2022. On the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death, the couple rowed to the island in the center of the estate’s Round Oval Lake where she is buried.
