Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s child is now Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet
In addition to King Charles III, his wife is Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and their daughter Lilibet “Lili” ” Mountbatten-Windsor, now a prince. and a corresponding princess.
After the Queen’s death and with her grandfather’s accession to the throne, two of Sussex’s children received the title of HRH.
According to protocols established by King George V in 1917, the children and grandchildren of a sovereign by default are entitled to the title of HRH and a prince or princess. Since Archie and Lilibet are great-grandchildren of the Queen, they were not entitled to their rights while she was alive. However, with the change of circumstances and now their grandfather is the new Sovereign, they automatically qualify as princes and princesses.
To prevent Archie and Lilibet from becoming princes and princesses, the King will have to issue a Letter of Intent that modifies Archie’s right to be a prince and Lili’s right to be a princess.
During the interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle stated that her son was not given the title of ‘Prince’ due to being of mixed race.
When asked if she wanted him to have the title, she said, “If that means he’ll be safe, then of course.”
