All NFL fans will have their vote for the greatest race in the history of Professional Football. If prime minister Adrian Peterson does not join the discussion for that title, there is a serious problem. Peterson entered his prime when he first hit the NFL field with the Minnesota Vikings. From 2007-2016 in Minnesota, before moving on to play for six teams in five years, Peterson took the NFL world by storm and wreaked havoc on opposing defenses.
Peterson’s NFL portfolio is completely stacked, and that’s thanks to his time with the Vikings. The Oklahoma Sooner was previously a seven-time Pro Bowl and seven-time All-Pro (four picks for the First Team). In 2007, on his way to winning Offensive Rookie of the Year, Peterson scored an NFL record with 296 yards dashing into the San Diego chargers in Week 9. He was voted the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player of 2012 for his dash. to 2,097 yards, which is 9 yards short of Eric Dickerson’s all-time singles record. The Texan is a three-time javelin lead (2008, 2012, 2015) and a two-time dash lead (2009, 2015). He scored more than 1,000 script yards and had double-digit touchdowns in eight of his 10 seasons with the Vikings. Peterson was a member of the NFL’s 2010 All-Decade Team because of his dominant decade in Minnesota. The future Hall of Famer recorded more than 11,000 yards of charge and 120 touchdowns in purple and gold.
After leaving Minnesota in 2016, Peterson will go on to play for New Orleans, Arizona, Washington, Detroit, Tennessee and Seattle from 2017-2021. In 2018 with Washington, Peterson became one of only five players aged 33 and over to hit a record 1,000 yards dash in a single season. He’s fifth all-time for dash yards with 14,918 and all-time fourth with 120 hasty touchdowns. If his latest act in Seattle in 2021 is the last time NFL fans get to see Adrian Peterson’s greatness, it’s one of the greatest careers in NFL history. His vision, speed and power are too unique. There will never be someone as great as him.
